Alcohol is Ruining your Fat Lose Results…Period

Fast way to setback fat loss, Drink Acohol.

You work hard all day. So when you come home from work, or finally get the kids down to sleep, you probably want to chill out. Many people do that by having a few glasses of wine with dinner. That’s one of the health mistakes many of my clients are making that is keeping them from losing weight. I’ll share a quick story about a young lady who was able to make some daily alcohol modification and her results went through the roof.

Now, I’m not saying you should cut out alcohol completely. A glass or two with dinner is just fine. But I want to make sure you understand that, when you’re trying to lose weight, a big issue with alcohol is not only its calorie content, but also the way the body metabolizes it.

Alcohol brings fat burning to a complete STOP! Please Read that Again!

Stop Ruining your Results

Warning! I’m about to toss in a little science talk, but don’t worry, I’ll keep it REAL with cha as I  always do. When alcohol is ingested, it passes through the stomach and intestines, into the bloodstream, then into the liver. In the liver, it is converted into acetaldehyde, which is then converted into acetate. Because acetate is readily bio-available, your body will burn it first… instead of carbs, protein, or fat.

The problem with that is now your carbs, proteins, or fats are storage as fat within the cells of your body. Here’s the non-science explanation, it’s like tossing litter fluid on a fire…Poof… It’s gone before you say Now that’s a Fire! If you never watched the Eddie Murphy standup movie RAW you have no clue what that last statement meant, but now you have a funny movie to go and buy. Laughing actually help you burn calories too :-) so go buy it now!

So if you choose to consume alcohol, here are three tips to help you from totally ruining your fat loss results.

Tip #1: Always eat fat and protein with alcohol to slow down its absorption rate and protect the lining of the stomach and small intestine.

Tip #2: Drink wine from organic sources whenever possible.

Tip #3: Enjoy your wine – but drink in moderation.

Instead of three glasses of wine every night with dinner, I recommend gradually cutting down to two glasses and then to one. By cutting your alcohol intake, intensifying your exercise routine, and making a few changes to your diet, you’ll easily be able to lose 15 to 28 pounds and lower your body fat by 5 to 8%. (By the way, some night you can skip the wine and replace it with a healthy alternative drink like green tea, or lemon water. Kim was able to lower her alcohol consumption and has lost an amazing 22 pounds and is working toward her 2012 goal of 30 more pounds lost.

NOT ONLY DOES SUGAR CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN BUT SKIN DAMAGE (aging skin/wrinkles) AS WELL!!!

At about age 35-40 not only does our body begin to change but so does our skin. SUGAR is one of our biggest culprits. Foods with high glycemic indexes, such as white bread, pasta and potatoes not only cause weight gain but aging, sagging, wrinkled skin. Not only does it attach to places that are unwanted to our body but now to the skin/face by attaching to the collagen and elastin and damaging it.

So, how do we correct this? Is it too late? NO, it’s never too late when it comes to our body and or skin. First step is to LOWER your sugar intake and limit the added sugars. Focus on good carbohydrates.

The Second step is to REBUILD–Collagen and elastin fibers in your skin can be restored. Third step is to take your MULTI VITAMIN. Vitamin B, C and E in particular are known to be collagen boosters.

Fat Burning Phenomenon with Green Tea

Health professionals recommend green tea to clients for its long list of health benefits including fighting heart disease and cancer, but it can also help stimulate fat loss. Studies have shown that people that combine green tea with exercise and healthy eating habits actually lose more weight than people who just exercise and eat healthier alone.

These studies have shown that substances found in green tea called catechins actually stimulate the body to burn more calories and reduce body fat. These catechins not only showed a decrease in BMI (body mass index), waist size and total body fat but can also help reduce LDL levels (“bad” cholesterol).

Yogi green tea is an organic tea that provides a variety of flavors so you should be able to find one that suits your taste. If you aren’t a fan of drinking hot tea then you can try to put it over ice for a cool refreshing beverage. Try drinking 2-3 cups a day so that you can obtain all the benefits that the green tea has to offer.

While health professionals recommend people drink more green tea, they do warn against purchasing beverages that may claim to contain green tea yet doesn’t truly have the benefits of it. Instead these beverages can contain high amounts of sugar or high fructose corn syrup and contain more calories than an all natural green tea beverage. So be wary of exactly what you buy because it contains “green tea” and stick to teas that you can brew on your own for your green tea benefits.

Discipline is the Key to Success

Day 4

Discipline: The single word and character trait that separates the doers from the do nots.

Well, I’m clear through my first 4 days of fasting and cleansing, and today was awesome. I organized a golf outing with a few personal business contacts and friends, something I planned before I committed to doing the master cleanse. When I originally decided to organize this outing I thought it would be great to play golf, network, and have some good cheat food with a few beers. It turned out to be an outstanding day of golf, great conversation and lemonade mix for me. My contacts and friends ate hot wings, mozzarella sticks, grilled turkey burgers and sweet potato fries. In addition to all that good greasy, heart attack food they washed it down with cold dark beer. I share these details with you because I was cool with just hanging and talking. I didn’t have the hard cravings to indulge one bite. Yes, the food looked good, but my stomach never made a noise. I sat there and had a warm glass of Mint tea, and 8 oz of lemonade mix. I started this post with the word discipline, well that’s exactly what you have to have and develop to stay true to the master cleanse. It’s not superhero discipline, just set your goal to complete it and don’t allow temptation or cravings derail your success. I feel stronger, I have more energy, I wake up with total ease, and most importantly I know I’m doing something great for my body. If you’re on the fence about trying the master cleanse, get off the fence and give it a go, you’ll be happy you did by day 4. Talk to you tomorrow. By the way I played very well in temperatures that would make a desert man ask for a fan. This is power, get started today.

Day 5-Friday

Boredom vs. Hunger

Do you know the difference between boredom and hunger? During this amazing experience I’m learning this lesson daily. We tend to eat out of boredom and one of my personal opinions is that’s why America is so overweight. We’ve become emotional, boredom eating machines. I am proud to say today wasn’t hard at all. I’m going to keep this post quick and short because I think the weekend just might have a few surprise for me. I’m heading into day 6 and 7 and my first weekend doing my Master Cleanse and I expect it to be a little challenging because I’ll have less activities to occupy my time. Time and what to do with it is that difficult part of fasting because we’re so program to use food as a time consumer in our lives. Boredom creates craving and temptation. I’m sure I’ll have a few of these tempting moments but I know I’ll stay strong. Till Saturday be well, and start your master cleanse today.

Day 6

Four days remain in my first 10 day cleanse, and I’m getting a little tired of lemonade and water. I woke up today feeling good, no challenges or detox symptoms. I felt a bit tired later during the day, but I think that is due to my workout on Friday. If you’re trying to save money get started on the master cleanse today, I haven’t spent more than $3 dollars all week and that was for a water at my golf outing. I’m excited to do some cardio tomorrow and then chill. Sunday is my chill and relax day. I’ll weigh myself Monday to see what my 7 day release is and check my body fat. I don’t expect it to change too much because I know much of the weight I will release on this detox will be water and a little muscle. The goal for me is to slowly come off the detox on Thursday and Friday and continue a RAW FOOD experiment for 7 days following my master cleanse. The energy and clarity I have right now is amazing. My body feels better than it has in a long time, and I’m really excited to continue to explore this new way of living. Health is my life and I believe you have to experience different ways of living in order to find what works best for you. I personally encourage anyone seeking answers about detoxing or just becoming healthier to get started on something today. Find a mentor or a professional health coach to assist you and guide you in the right direction. My mentor was Peter Glickman because after reading his book, I was intrigued to find out more about the master cleanse and learn for myself the effects on your body. I hope that my ten days of chronicling my experience sheds some light on the master cleanse program and inspires you to find out more for yourself too. Speak with you tomorrow…Happy Cleansing!

Port Washington, NY- On January 27th, at Harbor Links Clubhouse, five leading North Shore health, fitness and personal care professionals will deliver the seminar, ‘How to Make 2009 Your Healthiest and Best Year Ever,’ as a community awareness and fund raising event for Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect.

“The purpose of this event is to kick-off 2009 by teaching North Shore residents a proven strategy for achieving their New Year’s Resolutions of health and fitness and raising money for a great charity that I feel strongly about,” explains Breakthroughs To Fitness owner, Rahsheen Slaughter, a certified fitness and nutrition professional with 10 years experience serving over several hundred people both nation wide and internationally.

“Most people set health and fitness goals for the New Year, and start off with full momentum, but burn out quickly and never reach their goals. At this seminar, we will reveal how anyone with the desire can make 2009 the year their weight loss and fitness goals are finally achieved,” says Slaughter. “The line-up of health, fitness and personal care experts I’ve assembled is formidable. We’re all very confident we can have a real impact on the health of our community – and raise money for a worthy cause at the same time. Oprah gained 40 pounds since 2007 and she’s upset at herself for allowing her weight to get out of control Again. She saying it has something to do with her thyroid, but I think it has more to do with her eating and busy schedule. She’s everywhere and trying to be everything to everyone. I wonder what Bod Green thinks of his most famous Client ballooning over 200 pounds. As a Health Professional I don’t Blame Bob, but He’s got to take some blame for not catching this before her weight got to this point.

Oprah is a role Model and really should work harder at keeping her weight under control. I have the same feeling about Health Professionals who are Fat and out of shape. How can you preach one idea and live a totally different way.

B2F Coaches walk the walk, and talk the Talk. Coach Greg and I are embarking on another fun learning experience and beginning training for a June 6th Body Building show. I will be releasing 20 to 25 Pounds of body Fat. I don’t recommend anyone release that type of weight unless they are training for a specific event like a Fitness Show. Everyone has a ideal body weight which is healthy. Health is the one factor when it comes to body weight. If you’re seeking to design your ideal body,seek professional assistance to help you design a plan to create the desire results. Releasing fat and increasing lean muscle is science.  Have the professional preform an fitness assessment which includes you RMR, Body Fat Percentage, and VO2 MaX Test. With this information you can really design a plan to reach you goal.
