Carb Cycling — The Under appreciated Path to Rock Hard Abs

MetaBurn Training Studio

Yeah, we get it — you’ve heard it all before. Abs are made in the kitchen, not on the gym floor. Ooh, we even got a little poetic flow in there too, who knew?

All jokes aside, we can’t ignore the power of nutrition when it comes to building the bodies we want. Any bodybuilder will tell you that food is fuel and nothing more than that, so if you really want to build your own Ferrari, you need to know how to fuel it up for maximum performance.

Shattering the Diet Myths Surround Ab Work

Getting great abs and keeping them can often be two different things. Yes, there are ways people shortcut their way to getting abs, but they’re temporary. Nothing lasts when you go about it with unsound principles dancing in your head.

To say that diet doesn’t matter would be like saying you don’t really need a good engine in your car to get from Los Angeles to Vegas. Sure, you could travel the length in a soapbox derby car and rely on human power, but it’s going to take you five times as long and you’re going to be exhausted by the time you get there — if you don’t just turn tail and go back to L.A., of course.

Carb Cycling, Defined

Bodybuilders have been using carb cycling tactics for years to do a wide variety of goals with their bodies. If they want to shred fat, they’re going to be carb cycling. If they want to bulk up, they’re going to be carb cycling. But that doesn’t describe what CCing is really all about.

Well, it’s straightforward enough — you want to feed your body different macro-nutrient profiles in order to keep your body guessing so that it doesn’t fall into just burning at a set point and keeping you from your goals.

It does make carbs the star of the show, but it doesn’t just focus on the carbs. You also will need to adjust your protein and fat accordingly.

Most bodybuilders do this basing it on activity rather than just going by “feel”. You will naturally want to adjust later, but there’s nothing wrong with starting with a higher amount of carbs for your lifting days, and then lowering it during times where you’re not lifting.

The body uses carbohydrates as glucose to fuel the system, but protein to feed and build those muscles. You will also need to ensure that you’re giving the brain enough fat to function.

Different percentages work for different people. You might want to try 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat — or switch over to 50% carbs, 45% protein, and 5% fat when you’re lifting. There are so many ways to carb cycle, but the importance is that you’re changing things up. The standard schedule seems to be three days “low”, with 1 day high.

The Quality of Your Carbs Matters

You have to make sure that you’re going with quality sources for all three macro-nutrients. When it comes to carbs, the type of carbs that you choose matter. Don’t just bulk up on pasta and bread and crackers. You will want to go with roots, tubers, and nuts as well. Those are going to give you more energy and also break down slower, nourishing your body better than a loaf of white bread ever could.

Don’t forget the veggies, either — going with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, onions and celery aren’t bad options and they can really make your dishes burst with new flavors. Fruits also have their place — natural sugar isn’t a bad thing at all, and our ancient ancestors would have eaten fruit if it was ripe and in season! Apples, pears, bananas, tropical fruit and more are all great selections to add.

Protein Power?

Protein sources can include chicken, beef, lamb, eggs, tuna, oily fish like salmon and mackerel, as well as cod, halibut, walleye and more.

The Big Fat Question

Fat is something that people have been having a hard time dealing with forever. Here’s a newsflash: your brain needs it! Your body needs it! Your mood depends on it! However, not all fats are created equal.

You will definitely want to make sure that you’re getting it from animal fat, butter, coconut oil and sparingly from olive oil and other polyunsaturated fats. The body gets a lot of Omega-6 fatty acids as it is from a standard Western diet, and this often leads to inflammation and slower recovery. Olive oil has a place, but it doesn’t need to steal the show.

Avoid vegetable, canola, and soybean oils as much as possible — they are often rancid from the beginning, or they become rancid quickly. Overall, now is the time to seize control of your health through nutrition. Even though it might sound boring, it’s really the best way to go if you really want to build those rock hard abs!

Coach Rahz Back… As I said Mirsad delivered a great post and if you liked his post check out is blog too. Let me know if you have any comments or questions about any the the information in this post I will be more than excited to break it down for you.

As Always Stay Fit, Stay Firm the Surgery Free Way!

I love to work out. Well, not exactly. But I do love the side effects, the after effects and the future effects.

I began to take my health more seriously after my fourth daughter was born. When my back decided not to wake up one morning, only days after giving birth, and it took me over twenty minutes just to sit up in bed to nurse my newest princess, I had no choice. I had to go to the doctor. When you’re married to a doctor, you triage ninety per cent of ailments, and save yourself the trip and just detour to the nearest Walgreens. This time, the card I picked up said, “Straight to the MRI center, do not pass go or collect any Advil, until you know what the heck is going on with your back.” Or something to that effect. Come to find out I have four, not one, not two, but FOUR herniated discs in my lower back. Which when aggravated, can make my life a living hell and keep me from doing just about anything.

This was my red light moment. Everyone has one. The point at which you have to stop ignoring your health and take action. I called up my primary care physician and discussed the results. She happens to struggle with back issues as well, and told me the exact words I needed to hear:

“Well, you can get several epidural shots for a temporary fix, you can have a very complicated surgery on your back, or…I’ll see you at the pool.”

“I’ll see you at the pool.”

I knew that I had no choice. If I wanted to continue to do the things I love like hiking, kayaking, and playing basketball, I had to take care of my health, especially my back. And the truth of the matter is, every less inch of unnecessary weight you rid yourself of also decreases the stress on your back.

I’ve worked out pretty consistently for the last four years, but I’ve yet to shed all the prego pounds that have accumulated over the last ten, during which I had my four children. In a recent decision to change gyms, I have yet again made a life altering turn in my progress. When I first walked into the Metaburn studio, I was skeptical, wondering how different could it be from all the other gyms and classes I’ve taken. The first trainer I saw was Greg, and immediately, I laughed. I know this guy. When he used to run classes at the YMCA, he kicked my butt every time. I’d be hurting for days afterward. In a good way.

And sure enough, in a matter of thirty minutes, I probably burned a thousand calories. Okay, maybe closer to four hundred. He also works with your nutrition, helping you to tweak your eating for maximum results. That first day, he had us doing a buzillion squats, lunges, push-ups, weights, and ten burpees to finish. What are burpees you ask? They’re like push-ups power packed inside jumping jacks if you ask me. And I love them! NOT! But they do what Greg and his team argues give you the cardio-metabolic finish that helps you burn fat all day. Now that’s what I’m talking about!

Greg’s three words that ring in my ears during his sessions are “You Got This!” And he’s with you till you get there! With a high five in one hand and a protein shake in the other. Well, not really [about the shake], but his enthusiasm brings you back week after week.

Then there’s Rahz. He’s actually a walking miracle. I hope someday I can interview him and give you the lowdown of his humble beginnings to the strong man that he is today. He runs the place, and when you walk in to his class, you know there will be no apologies, no whining, and no excuses. He’ll work you hard and you’ll thank him when you finish.

Rahz says the two words that are my words for 2012. Since my name is Rajdeep after all. Those two words are “Dig Deep!” And when he says them, you just want to dig a little deeper and finish the race.

Another trainer I so admire is Ann-Marie. She’s the female strong woman I aspire to be. She’s gentle yet firm, pushes you to your limits, but also helps you to listen to your body and adjusts your work out to prevent injuries. She always has a smile on her face and her story is also an inspiring one. I hear she’s planning to share it someday on her Blog! So I won’t steal her thunder.

Her three words that she’ll say as you turn the corner and see the finish line ahead of you are “You’re Almost There.” Because she’s not settling for you to give up half way. She sees you through and her voice of encouragement fuels your weary muscles to keep going.

Finally, there’s John. What can I say about the guy who greets me when the sun still hasn’t risen three times a week when I make it to the gym at 6:30 in the morning? He’s all about the mapped out workout. He lays it out on the board so you know exactly where you’re going and he helps you get there. He tells you that you’ll be glad you came. Just not before or during the workout. But definitely afterward. And he’s right. Every time.

John’s two words that remind me time and time again that my health is ultimately in my own choices and in my hands are simply, “Challenge yourself.” Because the truth of the matter is, if you don’t challenge yourself, no one else can do that for you. You have to want it that bad.

And I do. I want the health. The body. And the strength that I am willing to fight for. Cuz it’s a fight. But I’m getting back in that ring every week. Because it’s not about four months or fifteen pounds for me. It’s a lifetime commitment to my family and to myself. I plan to hike mountains on my fiftieth wedding anniversary and run around with my grandkids. I’m planning for that now. Plus, doesn’t hurt to look good. Gotta think about my picture on the back of my book after all.

So what are you waiting for?

Challenge Yourself!

Dig Deep!

You’re Almost There!

You Got this!

Inspiring Story of a Remarkable Women

Hey Coach Rahz here, with an inspiring story from one of our amazing clients. Jillian has become way more than just a client, she has become a friend, mother, and mentor to my team and I. I believe we all require a Jillian in our lives. She brightens up my cloudy days, and brings laughter and love to the studio every time she walks in. One word comes to mind when I think of Jillian: STRENGTH.  Here is her story of Strength, Perseverance and a “Never Give Up” attitude in her own words…

I give you Jillian Ingram…

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

When Rahz suggested that I have a story worth sharing with other women, I agreed that my recent experiences might resonate with both men and women. I believe all of us meet up with challenges at different times in our lives – often defying prediction and planning. Such was my experience, beginning mid-June 2010.

On a Sunday morning in June, my husband (Paul) woke up to find me passed out on the floor of our bathroom. After waking me up, he guided me back to our bed and called my family physician. I was still with my trusted physician from central New Jersey – so he had to dispense advice from afar. He told Paul to get me to the hospital as quickly as possible. While I have no memory from being on the bathroom floor until eight days later; I am told that I insisted on freshening up before accompanying Paul to the hospital. When we entered the emergency room at Glen Cove Hospital – I summarily waived off offers of wheelchair assistance. Not only did I appear unperturbed, I seemed very upbeat to those around me, despite the fact that I exhibited tremors so pronounced that I was literally “shaking like a leaf.”

I do not remember anything from my eight-day stay in Glen Cove Hospital. I know now that I was in the intensive care unit, with an army of physicians swarming around my bedside trying to get a handle on what was going on for me. They conducted a myriad of tests – determining that I probably had had a drug reaction to a medication prescribed for a tenacious migraine. On Tuesday morning the doctors thought that my condition was improving – but by the end of the day concerns were mounting over my kidney function. By Friday I was in acute kidney failure and was transferred to North Shore University Hospital for dialysis. The physicians at Glen Cove suspected that I had also developed two extremely rare blood disorders: HUS and TTP – disorders affecting the integrity of the red blood cells and platelets respectively.

The probability of a person developing either one of these blood disorders is approximately one in a half a million people – yet tests conducted at North Shore confirmed that I had both. I was given a three percent chance of survival. Treatment for these blood disorders is a blood cleaning process called Plasmapheresis: a lengthy process requiring three and a half to four hours to complete. I experienced many unpleasant side-effects during each treatment – from nausea and severe abdominal cramping to intense body chills. For nine weeks, I received plasmapheresis every day, plus three and a half hours of dialysis every other day. Every second day was excruciatingly brutal; as dialysis is accompanied by its own set of nasty side-effects.

Discharge from North Shore in mid-August was not a “get out of jail free card.” I was transferred to a rehabilitation facility that also provided dialysis. After being bed-ridden for nine weeks I had to learn how to sit upright, stand, and eventually walk again. Greg (Mr. Nutrition) gave me valuable advice on what to look for in a rehabilitation program, as well as sharing a personal recommendation. Every day for two weeks I worked with a physical therapist for two one-hour sessions, and for an additional hour with an occupational therapist. By the time I left rehab I could walk with a walker, climb stairs with a handrail, and dress myself.

Despite early assurances from my first nephrology team, whom I eventually fired, I did not regain my kidney function. Many challenges accompanied my return home. I was still physically very weak and required dialysis three times a week. I was in complete renal failure; so that short of a transplant, I would require dialysis indefinitely. I had to learn the parameters of a renal diet and measure my fluid intake to the ounce (maximum 32 oz/day). My new nephrologist started campaigning for a transplant as soon as I began outpatient dialysis, advising me to “never become complacent with dialysis.” I felt overwhelmed! At the outset, the notion of an organ transplant seemed out-of-reach to me. As the weeks went by, my doctor stressed that transplantation was a necessity, not only for my survival, but also for a certain quality of life. In addition to all of these new issues confronting me – I had other matters that were waiting for my attention since June – not the least of which was the completion of my Master’s thesis in Developmental Psychology.

I contacted my thesis adviser while I was in rehab. She suggested that it would probably be best for me to set aside my thesis and concentrate on my health. Her advice did not sit well with me; as this would mean I would give up the opportunity of completing my degree. I had already satisfied 75% of the academic requirements for my degree – quitting was not an option. So I became reacquainted with my partially-completed thesis – working on it as my physical and mental energies allowed. On June 20, one year plus seven days since my initial hospitalization, my thesis was accepted by the university, and ten days later a Master of Arts degree was conferred upon me.

Eight days after I completed my degree requirements, I received a kidney from my husband. The fact that Paul was a match was nothing short of a miracle – as we are not biologically related and I am a rare blood type. Most people react to my story with the comment “It wasn’t your time.” While this sounds like a sage explanation – I invite you to look back over the last twenty months of my life through another set of lenses.

I attribute my recovery and good fortune to several factors: my indomitable will to live; the love and support I received from Paul, my children, sister, mother, and my friends near and far; learning and strictly following a renal diet plan; making every dialysis appointment; the attentive care I received from many physicians overseeing my treatment at both hospitals; the professional support and inspiration from my treating nephrologist; building a strong network of other physicians – while not hesitating to let go of those doctors who did not meet my needs; resuming my work-outs with Rahz twice a week, every week, from November until transplant; contacting the Transplant Center at LIJ North Shore University Hospital; the exceptional knowledge and skill of this transplant team; making and keeping all of the doctors’ appointments necessary for a medical clearance for an organ transplant; realizing a dream – by completing my degree in psychology; putting my intention out to the universe that I was going to have a kidney transplant; and greeting each new day as an opportunity for change.

What have I learned from these experiences? Never give up – because you cannot predict what tomorrow will bring. Each new day is an invitation to experience something new – if you are open to the possibility.

The #1 Diet that rules them all…

Posted in Locust Valley Personal Trainers, Nutrition, Tips and Strategies, Wellness on January 19th, 2012 by admin

This is How We Get it Done at the MetaBurn Fat Loss Studio of Locust Valley

Hey what’s up out there It’s your Coach Rahz back with a great post from my right-hand man, and best friend Mr. Nutrition Greg Kalafatic. It’s been a crazy 18 days here at the Metaburn Fat Loss Studio in Locust Valley. We’ve been swamped training our clients, and launching a new online fat loss program called 10X Fat Loss. O’yeah and it is that little weekly Fat Loss Show for women that launched on Jan. 9th. If you haven’t checked it out yet

Before we get into his awesome post about #1 DIET that rules them all, I got a great quote for you today. Let me know if this quote gets your juices flowing and inspires you to step up you output over the few weeks.

Awesome Quote: By: Brendan Burchard – One of my Personal Favorite Authors and Thought Leaders

“You have a clean slate every day you wake up. You have a chance every single morning to make that change and be the person you want to be. You just have to decide to do it. Decide today’s the day. Say it; This is going to be my day.”

We Welcome Mr. Nutrition,

There is a lot of hype out there about burning fat at a rapid pace. So much hype you don’t know what or who to believe.

This is called having “too many Chefs in the kitchen”

When you listen to all these diet gurus, you will most definitely hear conflicting data,

yet they can back it up with science.

So who do you believe?

Well you can’t believe anyone until you try it out and see if it works. That’s a tough statement

to absorb. I created my 10X Fat Loss System. It’s backed by science and also backed but hundreds of transformations. But is it right for you in your current state? Maybe?

But I am not here to talk about 10X. I am here to talk about the 1 Diet that rules them all.

It doesn’t have a cool sounding name (like 10 X :) ) but it’s pretty damn powerful.

It the Diet that control INSULIN…

I know you have heard about it, but do you understand the importance?

You see INSULIN is a very powerful transporter of nutrients. More powerful then a Columbian drug lord.  Like a drug lord it can create a lot of chaos in this world, but it can also create alot of good when used properly.

This funky “little” hormone needs to be controlled in order to win the fat loss game and come out victorious with a lean, fit & firm body.

HOW TO CONTROL INSULIN

You can’t eliminate INSULIN because it’s a necessary hormone, but you can control it. Here are my Top 3 Secret ways to control INSULIN:

1. Try your best to eat at least one cup of vegetables with each meal. If you can’t at least with your main meals. The phytonutrients and fiber from vegetables will slow down the how fast carbohydrates enter the  body and convert into glucose in the blood stream.  Therefore keeping a steady flow of minimal insulin pumping (this is a good thing)

2. Eat some type of protein with each and every meal. The termogenic effect of proteins again will help slow down the absorption of carb and keep insulin to a minimum. Here is the link to the webinar where I explain a little more about that www.10XFatLoss.com/presentation

3.  Have healthy fats with each meal. Fat’s take a while to break down and get absorbed into the bloodstream, therefore whatever else is with it slows down as well. Healthy fats are Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado, Mixed Raw Nuts, Grass fed Organic Beef, Salmon, Flaxseeds.

WARNING!!! The only time I highly recommend not eating fats is right after a workout, especially when using my Replenish method right after a workout. I explain that in 10X, but I’ll clip it out just for your eyes only.

There you have, 3 simple straight forward strategies to control your insulin (there’s more but not today).

If you want to burn more fat, be healthier, and look leaner and tighter you must follow the diet that controls INSULIN at all costs…

or you’ll be paying for it later on.

Your Fat Loss Coach,

Mr. Nutrition

Alcohol Kills Fat Loss Results

Posted in Locust Valley Personal Trainers, Long Island Health News, Tips and Strategies on December 22nd, 2011 by admin

Alcohol is Ruining your Fat Lose Results…Period

Fast way to setback fat loss, Drink Acohol.

You work hard all day. So when you come home from work, or finally get the kids down to sleep, you probably want to chill out. Many people do that by having a few glasses of wine with dinner. That’s one of the health mistakes many of my clients are making that is keeping them from losing weight. I’ll share a quick story about a young lady who was able to make some daily alcohol modification and her results went through the roof.

Now, I’m not saying you should cut out alcohol completely. A glass or two with dinner is just fine. But I want to make sure you understand that, when you’re trying to lose weight, a big issue with alcohol is not only its calorie content, but also the way the body metabolizes it.

Alcohol brings fat burning to a complete STOP! Please Read that Again!

Stop Ruining your Results

Warning! I’m about to toss in a little science talk, but don’t worry, I’ll keep it REAL with cha as I  always do. When alcohol is ingested, it passes through the stomach and intestines, into the bloodstream, then into the liver. In the liver, it is converted into acetaldehyde, which is then converted into acetate. Because acetate is readily bio-available, your body will burn it first… instead of carbs, protein, or fat.

The problem with that is now your carbs, proteins, or fats are storage as fat within the cells of your body. Here’s the non-science explanation, it’s like tossing litter fluid on a fire…Poof… It’s gone before you say Now that’s a Fire! If you never watched the Eddie Murphy standup movie RAW you have no clue what that last statement meant, but now you have a funny movie to go and buy. Laughing actually help you burn calories too :-) so go buy it now!

So if you choose to consume alcohol, here are three tips to help you from totally ruining your fat loss results.

Tip #1: Always eat fat and protein with alcohol to slow down its absorption rate and protect the lining of the stomach and small intestine.

Tip #2: Drink wine from organic sources whenever possible.

Tip #3: Enjoy your wine – but drink in moderation.

Instead of three glasses of wine every night with dinner, I recommend gradually cutting down to two glasses and then to one. By cutting your alcohol intake, intensifying your exercise routine, and making a few changes to your diet, you’ll easily be able to lose 15 to 28 pounds and lower your body fat by 5 to 8%. (By the way, some night you can skip the wine and replace it with a healthy alternative drink like green tea, or lemon water. Kim was able to lower her alcohol consumption and has lost an amazing 22 pounds and is working toward her 2012 goal of 30 more pounds lost.

You can improve your own health and get leaner by making similar changes. Get started today.

If you’re looking to see results like Kim Lo, Coach Rahz and the MetaBurn team can help. Starting January we will be offering a special online training program for people who can’t make it to his studio. Learn how to burn up to 28 pounds of fat in 6-8 weeks right here.

SUGAR THE VILLAN

Posted in Locust Valley Personal Trainers, Long Island Health News, Nutrition, Wellness on August 15th, 2011 by admin

Is Sugar making you Look OLD?

Guest Post from the Dynamic Kettle-Bell Diva, Coach Annamaria

NOT ONLY DOES SUGAR CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN BUT SKIN DAMAGE (aging skin/wrinkles) AS WELL!!!

At about age 35-40 not only does our body begin to change but so does our skin. SUGAR is one of our biggest culprits. Foods with high glycemic indexes, such as white bread, pasta and potatoes not only cause weight gain but aging, sagging, wrinkled skin. Not only does it attach to places that are unwanted to our body but now to the skin/face by attaching to the collagen and elastin and damaging it.

So, how do we correct this? Is it too late? NO, it’s never too late when it comes to our body and or skin. First step is to LOWER your sugar intake and limit the added sugars. Focus on good carbohydrates.

The Second step is to REBUILD–Collagen and elastin fibers in your skin can be restored. Third step is to take your MULTI VITAMIN. Vitamin B, C and E in particular are known to be collagen boosters.
Of note, topical skin care products that contain antioxidants–Vitamin A, C and E also support the collagen and elastin of your skin. Excellent food sources include red grapes, dark green veggies such as broccoli, spinach and kale along with acai berries and pomegranates.

Oh and don’t forget, even if you are younger, good habits will have you a step ahead.
So ladies, BACK OFF the SUGAR, be COMMITTED and Say HELLO to a HEALTHIER BODY with YOUNGER LOOKING SKIN!!

Flat Belly Bootcamp is it the Answer to your Fat Loss Prays?

Posted in Locust Valley Personal Trainers, meta burn on August 10th, 2011 by admin

Accidental Discovery that will help you Lose 8-15 in 28 Days

ATTENTION —-> Locust Valley, Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Oyster Bay Residents

A couple of days ago I sent out a email to my list telling them all about the new accidental discovery I made with a few of my personal training clients (who I used as test subjects)

…that’s code for “Guinea Pigs”

The BIG discovery I made could get me in major trouble with a lot of gyms, trainers, and supplement companies who want your money, but aren’t interested in getting you results.

Since sending that email out on Monday I’ve gotten a boatload of responses from people who want to be in the first ever “beta test group” called Flat Belly Bootcamp to validate my fat burning discovery.

Actually, I was a bit overwhelmed with how many people replied back so quickly and asked to be in my beta test group.

So I’ve finalized the program and here’s how it’s going to work.

I’m calling it Flat Belly Bootcamp

The entire program length is customized to your end goal result you want to achieve. We will work with you until you hit your goal and we refuse to let you fail.

- I’m going to provide you with a done for you meal plan crafted by Mr. Nutrition (you’ll meet him one day) to help you increase your metabolism and burn fat. (This is NOT a diet, it’s a meal plan optimized for fat loss where all you have to do is read it, and eat it).

-Along with that you will have a supplement checklist (all natural supplements none of those funky ones that have side effects) to complement your meal plans and workouts to accelerate the fat loss

-You’ll need to workout with me 3x per week in a group setting during Flat Belly Bootcamp.

- The workouts will be challenging, even hard at times but never impossible. And you’ll always have motivation and accountability from me and the rest of the group.

-Here’s the best part…even though we’re going to work on burning fat, flattening the belly, and defining those abs, we’re not going to do any of that long boring cardio (imagine that, having a sexy mid section without doing long boring cardio).

- You can expect to drop between 8-15 lbs a month and see a dramatic change in your body in just 28 days.

- The program starts this coming Monday.

Now, typically my clients pay between $280-$900 a month to get personal training from me.

But since this is going to be the first time (beta group) that I try out this program on “non clients,” I’m going to only charge you $21 for the first 21 days of your training and meal plans.

There’s no catch with the price. I want you to experience this formula I discovered with zero risk so you are confident it will work for you. After 21 days if you love it, and I know you will, we will roll you into the full blown Flat Belly Bootcamp at our extremely low rate of $157 a month.

But there’s one small challenge….

I can only take on 22 people for the beta test group because I want to be sure I can give individual participant plenty of attention (not like those other bootcamps that just put you in herds of 30-40 people at a time)… I believe in keeping the program small and giving you a TON of close attention.

To lock in one of the 22 spots for yourself just give me a call at 516-203-4534 to get into this amazing “beta test” program.

Committed to your fat loss results,

Top Vitamins for Women Revealed

Locust Valley Fat Loss Expert Reveals Top Vitamins for Women

Personal Trainer| Locust Valley Personal Trainer| Glen Cove Personal Trainer

Hey Coach Rahz here with a quick post about vitamins and why women should be taking them daily to aid in their fat loss goals.

I get asked often what vitamins should I be taking, and why. Well below in this post Jayson Hunter highlights the  Top 10 Women

vitamins. If you live locally in the Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, North Shore Long Island areas you can stop into my

Locust Valley fat Loss Studio or visit my online vitamin store for more details.

Ok, so you know Vitamins and Minerals are important. Most women know that.

However, not everyone understands WHY they are so important for their body.

So I recently asked Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter to give us the easy rundown on the Top Women’s Vitamins.

Here’s what he had to say:

Vitamin A – This vitamin contributes to the health of you eyes, skin and nails.

Vitamim B – While B Vitamins are often referred to as “energy vitamins” they don’t actually give you a surge of energy, per se. What

they actually do is help facilitate metabolic reaction in the body to create energy. They’re also necessary for a  healthy metabolism.

Vitamin C – This women’s vitamin is a great antioxidant and immune system booster. It also helps skin health.

Vitamin D – Helps women absorb calcium and it may help prevent certain types of cancer.

Calcium – It’s actually a mineral not a vitamin. And as most women know already, it improves bone density.

Pretty simple, right? But you can also see why it’s so important to understand vitamins for women. When we understand the reasons

to make healthier choices it helps us make them.

Now, I get asked all the time by women which vitamin supplements, if any, they need to be taking. Great question.

Well, if your nutrition is 100% perfect all the time then you probably don’t need to take any.

But that’s not the case for most women. Most women are busy as heck and don’t always find the time for proper nutrition. So if that’s

the case with you I recommend taking a whole foods based Multi-Vitamin. And the only one I recommend is

Prograde Nutrition’sVGF 25+ for Women.

It’s actually really cool because it’s literally made from 25 veggies, greens and fruits.

You should definitely check out Prograde’s Women’s Vitamins to your store

http://b2f.getprograde.com/vgfwomen At the very top of the page is the list of

ingredients. You can see the 25 whole foods they use to make VGF 25+ for Women.

PS – Pretty cool, huh? The nutrition of 25 whole foods in a bottle!

PPS – If you Like Smoothies check this one out

Prograde Cinnamon Chai Latte

1 Scoop of Prograde Vanilla Protein
1 Cup of Cold Cinnamon Chai Tea
1 Pinch of Stevia

How to Burning Post Baby Weight Fast

How to Lose Post Baby Weight Fast

Hey Coach Rahz here,

WoW… is all I can say about the weather here on the east coast this summer. I’m loving it! I don’t like the cold, so you will not hear me complaining about the heat. I did have a scary moment this week when my grandmother’s power went out and I didn’t know about it until the next day. If you haven’t heard me talk about my grandmother, she is my Rock. She is my inspiration to live life with passion and zest. She never allows her tough life situations or challenges effect her positive outlook on life. Can you image if we all had her mindset: live life, love people, and as she always says, “Keep on keeping on.” Ok, enough about grandma and on with today’s post.

Over the past few weeks here at my Locust Valley personal training studio, I’ve been getting a few questions about “Burning the Baby Fat.” So I’m going to breakdown two powerful concepts that will help any mother struggling with burning their post baby belly fat fast. If you’ve followed me or been coached by me you know I start everything with mindset.  Why? The main reason is that I’ve found that most people will not achieve their goals and ambitions without having the right mindset from the start.

So what is the right baby burning, fat melting, body transforming mindset?

Here’s the secret I’ve used to helped hundreds of Long Island women shed their unwanted baby fat fast. Are you ready?

Believe, Believe, Believe!

Since opening my MetaBurn Fat Loss Studio in Locust Valley, I’ve met so many wonderful mothers all struggling with the same frustrations, challenges, and failed attempts to get their pre-baby bodies back. After talking with them I’ve found one trend that sticks out like a sore thumb, they don’t really Believe they can regain their pre-baby bodies back. In my opinion the reason for this is they are afraid to fail, they have accepted that this is as good as it gets, and some aren’t really committed to do the work necessary to burn the baby fat. Most mothers wish they could have a baby, and then bang a few weeks later see their bodies just shrink back to pre-baby size. Well news flash, that’s not going to happen, but I’m here to share that it’s easier than you think, and I have so many mothers reclaiming their bodies in 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and losing serious pounds. My client Brenda lost all her baby fat in about 8 weeks following the MetaBurn Fat Loss system. So here’s what I need you to do right know so that we can change your belief system about what you can and can’t do. Yes, I’m going to ask you to write something down on paper.

It’s called an incantation and it’s a power strategy to reprogram your mindset.

” I am 100 % committed to reclaiming my beautiful, attractive, healthy body back, and nothing will get in my way.”

Exercise:

Read this incantation aloud for 2-5 minutes per day for 21 days. If you’re truly committed this one exercise will give you the motivation, energy, and excuse shattering strength like nothing you’ve ever experienced in your life.

The second concept I will share with you in is post is my famous 3 P’s Method:

Prioritize, Plan, Prepare

This concept is simple yet what I have found is that mothers and people in general just don’t get it.  You’ve probably heard that success leaves clues in its wake. Well, successful mothers who have transformed their bodies back to their pre-baby status utilize the 3p’s method in some form. I’m not going to go into great detail here because I have created a video that really digs deep into the 3P’s method and you can watch the short video and get all the details. For the purpose of this post here’s a basic summary of the method.

Prioritize:

This means making Health, Fitness, Nutrition, and Your Body a priority. Over my 11 years and among the thousands of mothers I’ve met and coached, the common trend is family first, me last. I completely understand that it’s a mother’s priority to take care of her family, but at what cost to her happiness? If she hates her body, feels unattractive whenever she tries on clothes, doesn’t want to go out because she feels like she looks fat, or worst of all, covers her body up in big clothes to hide her pain of not loving who she is. This has to stop because there are too many mothers who deserve to feel great about their bodies and most importantly, love themselves for creating the person they are. I empower you mothers to put yourself first sometimes and prioritize your life around your feelings and wants sometimes. You will immediately experience a sense of power and energy.

Plan:

One of my favorite quotes is “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Simple to understand: Plan your meals, plan your exercise, plan your life around what’s important and has value to you. Time isn’t an excuse, because time is the only equal factor we all have. If you require a more detailed understanding about planning your meals, exercise, and life contact us and let me and my coaches assist you with creating the ideal MetaBurn lifestyle.

Prepare: Final P

Here’s where the rubber meets the road. I taught my private clients success tricks for all aspects of their lives, and I’m going to share two simple success tricks that have helped my happy mothers burn post-baby belly fat, sculpt Jennifer Aniston arms, and tighten their asses enough to rival J Lo’s moneymaker.

Jennifer Lopez Burns Post Baby Fat Fast

Coach Rahz’s Success Tricks

1) Sunday FunDay- Cook your meals on Sunday night for the week

2) Pack it- Never leave home without 1 to 2 meals. These meals can be healthy low sugar bars, shakes, or as I do, Tupperware filled with home cooked meals.

Well there you have it, a simple starter plan to jump start your baby fat burning journey today. I truly hope this information serves you, and you find value in the content I share on this blog, though my emails, and programs. It is my deepest passion to serve you and assist as many women to regain their pre-baby zest, and start loving themselves again. 5 Flat Tummy Myths-3 Steps to Tighter Abs

Posted in Fat Loss Secret, Locust Valley Personal Trainers on June 1st, 2011 by admin

5 Flat Tummy Myths (and 3 Steps to Tight Abs)

It’s bathing suit season and you want flat abs to flaunt.

While I commend your desire to slim down before baring it all, I’m here to warn you of the 5 myths that most people believe. Don’t waste your time on these:

Myth #1: Take diet pills to speed results.
I know it’s so tempting! The ads make compelling claims about the power of popping a pill, but don’t fall for it. There is no ‘magic pill’. Diet pills are more likely to burn through your pocketbook than to slim you down.

* Tip: Don’t pop a pill – instead burn calories with intense exercise.

Myth #2: Do extra crunches to flatten your abs.
Excessive crunches aren’t the answer for tight abs. In order to achieve a toned look you’ll have to focus on burning off the layer of fat that is covering up your tummy.

* Tip: Don’t obsess about crunches – instead focus on fat burning.

Myth #3: Turn to packaged diet products to boost results.
Don’t fall for the foods that are packaged as ‘diet’ or ‘weight loss’ aids. Quite often these products are packed with refined sugar and other artificial ingredients that your body doesn’t need, and certainly won’t help you attain that tight tummy.

* Tip: Don’t eat packaged diet foods – instead stick with nutritious whole foods.

Myth #4: Avoid all carbohydrates in order to achieve tight abs.
Carbohydrates have been given a bad rap, which is unfortunate because you can (and should) eat carbs while slimming down. The key is to stick with whole grains, oatmeal and brown rice while avoiding processed and refined flours and sugars (see the recipe below for Power Oatmeal).

* Tip: Don’t give up all carbohydrates – instead stick with wholesome carbs.

Myth #5: Starve the chub away. Trying to lose weight by starving yourself is not only ineffective it can also be dangerous. It may seem that severe calorie restriction would deliver the quickest weight loss, but your body is complex and by doing so you’ll disrupt your metabolism and slow your results.

* Tip: Don’t starve yourself – instead eat small wholesome meals throughout the day.

Now that you know what not to do in order to achieve tight abs, it’s time to go over your flat tummy game plan. Here’s what you need to know in 3 simple steps:

* Step One: No more junk.
The best way to do this is by purging your kitchen. Throw out the sugary, processed and fat-filled foods. Once the junk has been cleared out, don’t buy any more of it. Remember that your beach-ready abs depend on what you eat – don’t eat junk!

* Step Two: Eat whole foods.
Replace the junk food in your life with plenty of the following: cooked and raw vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, moderate amounts of seeds and nuts, lean meats and low fat dairy. Clean eating really is that simple.

* Step Three: Come train with me.
