Finish Strong…How will you Handle Challenges in your Life?

Posted in Uncategorized on July 19th, 2009 by RahzS
Will you Finish Strong?

Will you Finish Strong?

Dear Friends,

I was compelled to write this email because so many people view Sunday night as the night before the dreaded Monday Morning. Well if you consistently view Monday morning as dreaded, that is exactly what you will create.

I personally look forward to Monday morning, and it’s because I see every Monday as a new beginning to  awesome upcoming week of inspiring and changing lives. So with that said I thought this little quick video I came across just might assist you in getting fired up for your week.

Let me know what you think.

I also thought why not add to the video content with a quick Coach Rahz Story..

“Challenges”  We all can agree on one thing, We all Have Challenges, but how we handle and react to our personal challenges will make us who will will become.

Most of you know me well enough to know I love challenges because I’ve been dealing with them my entire Life.

Challenge # 1 was told at the age of 12 by Doctors I would be in a wheel chair by the age of 18…Wrong…I decided that would not be my story….

Challenge # 2  My mother decided having a labeled disabled son is too much for her to handle so she sent me to live with my grandmother, who had no job, no income and could not read or write. “My Decision” Make it Happen by any means possible. Now I’m forced to start my entrepreneurial career much earlier than expected, but I was fortunate to steer clear of danger and make the right choices. Many Don’t……

Challenge # 3 Debt
Who doesn’t have this one. I found myself 21 years old 18,000 thousand dollars in debt and no saving, late on all my bills, creditors calling, and about 2 weeks from being evicted from my apartment with my grandmother.

Yes, I had to make some changes, and make them fast or I was going to be another statistic just like so many other young misguided fatherless “Black” Males.

The list goes on but I have a 4:30am appointment with a Bench Press Bar so That’s all you get for tonight… I will tell you this in 8 days I will be celebrating my 32 Birthday on this wonderful planet and my Life is amazing.

I’m building a business that I love, I have amazing friends, Clients, Mentors, a Super awesome Body Building Trophy, a Dog Named Rahzco, and the World’s Greatest Grandmother. I’m 100% Debt-Free and currently saving to purchase my first home. I am truly blessed and I am not telling you this to impress you but impress upon you that we all have challenges in our lives. It will come down to how you handle and intrepid  your challenges will determine your FUTURE. I Thank You for allowing me to share this email with you and I hope you begin to create your amazing life Tomorrow Morning.

Thin Monkeys Live Longer

Posted in Uncategorized on July 15th, 2009 by Greg

I know that title sounds a little strange this early in the morning, but I wanted to share with you a quick note about a study my good friend Dr. Chaney sent me that was published in the July 9, 2009 edition of Science magazine. This was a twenty year study with rhesus monkeys which was a BIG DEAL in the news! Here is the exact email below. To skip that and see how this study can affect your life click the link below:

Will A Caloric Restriction Save Your Life?

A study published in the July 9, 2009 edition of
magazine reported the results of a twenty year study
with rhesus monkeys. You may have heard about it in the
news or read about it in your local paper because this
study was a BIG DEAL!

You see, we already knew that every species tested
from single cell organisms to fruit flies to worms to
mice lived longer when calories were restricted.

We knew that the same genetic regulators of aging were
found in primates, but no one had definitively shown
that caloric restriction prolonged life in primates.

So this study was the first of its kind!

And because rhesus monkeys live an average of 27 years,
it had to be a 20 year study – no small undertaking.

Back in 1989 Dr. Ricki Colman and Dr.Richard Weindruch
at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center began
their study with adult monkeys between the ages of 7
and 14 years old. Half of the monkeys were allowed to
eat as much as they liked, while the other half had
their calorie intake reduced by 30%.

Twenty years latter the results were striking.

37% of the monkeys who ate as much as they wanted had
died of age-related diseases such as cancer and heart
disease, while only 13% of the monkeys on the reduced
calorie diet had died from the same diseases.

Diabetes, which is normally common among rhesus
monkeys, was completely absent from the monkeys on a
reduced calorie diet. And the normal shrinking of the
brain that occurs during aging was slowed in the
calorie-restricted monkeys.

Now keep in mind this was not a Doritos versus salads
comparison. Both groups were eating the same good
diets. The only difference between the two groups was
in the caloric intake.

Nor were the free eating animals obese. They were
normal weight. It was just the opposite. The calorie-
restricted group of monkeys weighed less and were
thinner than normal.

The researchers can not yet estimate how much caloric
restriction will increase the lifespan of rhesus
monkeys because not all of the monkeys have yet died.
However, it is clear that the calorie-restricted
monkeys were healthier and had a clear survival benefit
over their peers who were eating at will.

So what does this all mean for you and me?

1) Humans live far too long to be able to design a
study proving that caloric restriction lowers the risk
of disease and extends life in humans. But our genetic
make-up is 99% identical to that of monkeys, so most
experts consider it highly likely that caloric
restriction will have the same benefits in humans that
it has in monkeys and every other species tested.

2) Resveratrol activates the same longevity genes as
caloric restriction and also extends lifespan in every
species tested through mice.

An experiment to determine unambiguously whether
resveratrol can extend lifespan in rhesus monkeys is
currently underway (You only need to wait another 18
years for the results).

That kind of experiment will never be feasible in
humans because of our long lifespan.

However, clinical studies have already shown that
resveratrol positively impacts many of the same disease
risk factors (eg. inflammation, insulin resistance,
oxidative damage) in humans that it affects in mice.

For all of those reasons, many experts consider it
likely that resveratrol will have the same effects on
health and longevity in primates, including humans,
that it has in mice.

So you have to ask yourself after seeing the results:

The last piece to the fat loss puzzle…

Posted in Uncategorized on July 13th, 2009 by Greg

Take the dirt out of your program

We have covered the first 4 steps in How To Transform Your Body In Record Time in previous posts. To recap on those they are:

  1. Define your goals, motivation, and commitment level
  2. Assess your current fitness level with a variety of measurements
  3. Design your program
  4. Implement your program

The fifth and last piece to the fat loss puzzle is to reassess not only your physical state, but your mental state as well every 4-6 weeks. So the first component is to redo all the measurments you did when you started out your fitness program.

This is important to your success because now you have data to compare and weigh if the fat loss program is working in your favor or not. If it’s not, then you may want to think about revisitng step 1 and see how commited and motivated you are to achieving your goals. Did you follow the program with your greatest effort?

If so, then you go right to step 3 where you tweak 1 variable at a time within your program until it starts working in your favor and implement it into your life.

Once you collect your data, it is now time to assess your successes and challenges. What did you do really well? What were some of the challenges and obstacles that got in your way? The more indepth you can answer these questions, the more success you will have throughout your fitness life.

And there you have the 5 step system to Transforming Your Body In Record Time.

It is now July 13th, almost 10 days after Fourth of July. Are you still stuck in the holiday rut of eating everything in site or even worse eating very little because of how much you ate during the holiday?

Or are you putting forth a great effort to transforming your body and treating it the way it should be treated?

How to reset your body after Fourth of July poisons

Posted in Uncategorized on July 6th, 2009 by Greg

Hopefully you had a great Fourth of July weekend. It was such a beautiful day to celebrate our independence. Although some places cut back on fireworks because of the economy, that should not stop you to be grateful for such an amazing country you live in. Celebrating with family and friends, eating some great food, getting some sun, and sharing stories. It can’t get any better then that.

Unfortunately, we tend to forget it’s a 1 day celebration where we let loose and not a lifetime of eating unhealthy food choices, drinking beer, and being inactive under the sun. It’s great to let loose and celebrate life, but more important, getting right back on track to reaching your goals or even maintaining good health.

This brings us into the 4th step of Transforming Your Body In Record Time which is taking action and implementing your program. Remember in one of the last posts, we stated that the next milestone is seeing what results you can achieve between Fourth of July and Labor Day?

Well it’s 2 days into that milestone. Have you taken action or implemented your program? Or have you allowed the holidays to capture you with all the sugar, sweets, fats, and alcohol?

Normally it takes a few days to adjust back to your healthy lifestlye, but as the 4th step we tell clients to

Commit to pushing through 21 days “no matter what” to

break free from your “rubber band”

We want you to recreate a great habit not just being healthy for a free days then turning back to a holiday lifestyle. You just need to make that decision to treating your body the way it should be treated. Once the decision is made, you must follow through on your word and take immediate action.

If you can’t keep your word to yourself, then how valuable is your word? Don’t be afraid to take that leap. Make that decision to get back on board with the program TODAY!

Don’t have a program or are confused where to start? One of our coaches would be more then happy to schedule a FREE consultation in assisting you in putting a program together. Simply click the link below to sign up for your FREE consultation TODAY!
